from the Xtra Mile website:

Hard working bands tend to flock our way, and To Kill A King were just another example of one we snatched mid-take off. Coming off of their biggest UK headline tour and support slots for Bastille and Dog Is Dead, To Kill A King re-released their début ‘Cannibals With Cutlery’ on Xtra Mile. Their majestic sound is also featured on our 10th Anniversary 7” Single Sessions along with the ever-wonderful Chris T-T & the Hoodrats. The song ‘Rays’ showcases their faster paced work, though not at the expense of their defining feature: a rich expanse of melody, texture and tone.

Brass lingers over songs while the central pulse of drums, guitar, piano and voice ensure both a journey and a destination. Comparisons will date, but it feels like their songs and musicality won’t. You could call it orchestral, you could say it has dynamism, and you might even point to its fragility at times. You’d be right and wrong. It’s all of these and more. Whether it’s as far as the clouds or beyond our stratosphere entirely, To Kill A King are on their way.
